Dinners with Doc
Harold "Doc" Edgerton is one of the most famous and beloved professors at MIT. In addition to his ground-breaking research and iconic photography, Doc cared deeply for the well-being of the students at the Institute. In an article written in the Tech after Doc’s death, Yu Hasegawa-Johnson ’89, wrote, “His admirable work is well known and respected, but I am not sure how well his charming, warm personality is known.” Doc created a home away from home for MIT students. During Thanksgiving and at other points in the year, he and his wife, Esther, would host members of the MIT community at his house for dinner.
